Privacy policy
This policy describes how claw, a private personal AI assistant operated by Oliver Morris ("the operator") for his own use, handles data. claw is a personal, non-commercial project. It is not offered to the public and is not operated by any company or employer.
Who uses it
Only the operator. The only Google account that signs in to claw is one created specifically for the assistant and controlled by the operator.
Data claw accesses
With the permissions granted on Google's consent screen, claw may access, for that one assistant account:
- Basic profile – the account's email address, to identify which account is signed in.
- Google Calendar – events on the assistant's own calendar, and calendars the operator has shared with it (shared calendars are view-only).
- Gmail – reading messages sent to the assistant's address, and sending email on the operator's instruction.
- Google Drive – files in the assistant's own Drive and files shared with it.
How the data is used
Data is used only to carry out the operator's own requests, for example summarising today's calendar or finding an email. It is not used for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to those requests.
To answer a request, the relevant content may be sent to the AI model provider configured by the operator, which processes it to generate a response. No other third parties receive the data.
Sharing and sale
Data is never sold, rented or shared for advertising. It is not transferred to anyone except as described above (the AI model provider, solely to answer the operator's requests) or where required by law.
Storage and security
claw runs on hardware owned by the operator. Google sign-in tokens are stored in an encrypted store on that hardware. Email, calendar and file content is fetched when needed and is not copied into a separate database.
Google API Services User Data Policy
claw's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Removing access
Access can be removed at any time from the assistant account's Google Account permissions page. Removing access stops claw from reading any further data. Calendars and files shared with the assistant can be unshared at any time in Google Calendar or Google Drive.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page will be updated.
